The document
A faithful facsimile of leaf 13 verso of the autograph, held at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (Mus.ms. Bach P 967). The Ciaccona fills five pages, from this one to leaf 15 verso; this is where it begins, under the heading “Ciaccona”. The music runs right up to the binding, as Bach wrote it.
About the artist
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) dated the title page of the collection 1720. Brahms, writing to Clara Schumann, called the Chaconne one of the most wonderful, most incomprehensible pieces of music.
The print
Printed to order and made to last. Choose Museum Matte (heavyweight matte art paper) or Fine Art Giclée (Hahnemühle cotton paper — the archival standard). The Métrica museum caption — artist, title, date and source — is printed as part of the piece, set in our house type. Free US shipping on two or more pieces.
