Orion from the first atlas to map the whole sky and letter its stars in Greek — the naming system astronomers still use.
The document
A copperplate engraving from Bayer’s Uranometria (Augsburg, 1603), engraved by Alexander Mair. Reproduced faithfully from the original plate.
About the artist
Johann Bayer (1572–1625) was a German lawyer and astronomer; his Uranometria introduced the Bayer designation, still standard today.
The print
Printed to order and made to last. Choose Museum Matte (heavyweight matte art paper) or Fine Art Giclée (Hahnemühle cotton paper — the archival standard). The Métrica museum caption — artist, title, date and source — is printed as part of the piece, set in our house type. Free US shipping on orders over $75.
