About the artist

Kamisaka Sekka (1866–1942) was the last great master of the Rimpa school and, in many ways, the first modern Japanese designer — he pulled a 300-year tradition into the 20th century with a boldness that still reads as contemporary. Momoyogusa (1909–1910) is his best-known work.
