Lifted straight from Rimbaud's own manuscript — the "lettre du voyant" of 15 May 1871 — not set in type. « Je est un autre », "I is another", in the poet's actual hand, screenprinted in a single sepia ink. The archive marks are cleaned; every stroke of his pen is untouched. Nothing redrawn.

About the artist
Arthur Rimbaud (1854–1891) had abandoned poetry by twenty-one. At sixteen he wrote the letters that remade what a poem could be — declaring the poet a "seer" and the self a stranger to itself. This is his hand at that moment.
